Luthier – Ted "Theo" Johnson Ted has the knowledge and skill to perform everything from a minor repair to a major restoration on just about every string instrument, which comes his way. From setting sound posts on a 1/16 size violin, resetting a broken neck on a bass, to restoring a vintage guitar, banjo or mandolin, he has the experience. Ted has been repairing stringed instruments in the Hartford, CT area for over 35 years. His passion for quality repair service shows through the diligent research and study he has undertaken over the years. He has studied repair and building techniques on both the violin family and the fretted instrument family with local area luthiers, such as: Arturro Maglieri, Michael Busel, Daniel Niedzwiecki and other luthiers throughout the country. He has attended the University of New Hampshire’s summer repair programs and seminars taught by Carleen Hutchins on the violin octet instruments. He is affiliated with the following organizations:
